• Non renewable: non renewable resources, such as fossil fuels and nuclear material, are removed from the earth and can be depleted. these resources have been the most used type of energy in the modern era

example: fossil fuels, crude oil, coal, uranium, natural gas, tar sand, steel, phosphate

• Renewable : renewable resource is one that can be used repeatedly and does not run out because it is naturally replaced.

example: solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass energy
