What is meant by extensive and intensive properties?


Lailu: An extensive property is a property that depends on the amount of matter in a sample.
Mass and volume are examples of extensive properties.
An intensive property is a property of matter that depends only on the type of matter in a sample and not on the amount.
Color, temperature, and solubility are examples of intensive properties.

And extensive are outer part

properties of a system which depends on the total amount of the material present in the system are extensive properties
ex. mass, volume, entropy etc...

properties which are independent of the amount of the material but depends on nature of the substance are intensive properties
ex. density, temperature, Boiling point, etc...
