The portion of gas or vapour that burns in air is called flame. The flames are of two types blue flame (non-luminous) and yellow flames (luminous). Blue flame indicates that the fuel has burn completely in air or oxygen, while yellow flame indicates that the fuel has burnt in an insufficient supply of oxygen or air.
