What is meant by Full moon and New moon

The difference is simply a matter of the moon's position in it's orbit around the earth relative to the sun. When it is between us and the sun we cannot see its lit side, and call it a new moon. When the earth is between the moon and the sun the moon's side facing us is fully illuminated and we call it full.
