Green revolution refers to the introduction of High yielding variety (HYV) of seeds and increased use of fertilizer and irrigation methods. It took place during the 1960s especially 1965onwards. It was aimed at providing increase in production to make India self-sufficient in food grains.
1. Introduction of new and high yielding variety of seeds.
2.Increased use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides and weedicides to prevent agricultural losses.
3.Increased use of fertilizers to increase agricultural productions.
4.Use of latest agricultural machinery like seed drills, tractors, harvesters,threshers.
5.Use of high disease resistant varieties so that production will enhance.
