Gynoecium :- It is the female reproductive part of Flower, it has female gametes. Gynoecium includes stigma, style, ovary. It is also called pistil or carpel.

( a ) sepals ( the outermost whorl ) .
( b ) petals ( second whorl ) .
( c ) stamens ( third whorl ) .
( d ) pistil ( fourth whorl ) .
Among these , the third and the fourth whorl namely , stamens and pistils arethe essential whorls of the flower as they are directly concerned with reproduction .
The first and the second whorls are the non essential whorls of the flower as they are not directly related to reproduction .

Each pistil ( or carpel ) consists of a basal ovary , a middle style and an uppermost stigma . After fertilisation , the ovary forms the fruit and the ovule form the seed .
