Firstly ,when work is done heat is always produced. Now ,heating effect is produced because of resistance offered in a conductor due to current flow .the work done is overcoming resistance is generated as heat.heat produced is depend upon conductance.more heat is produced in semi conductor and insulator than good conductor

when current flows through a conductor , heat will be generated because of the resistance offered by the conductor to the flow of charges as a result some amount of energy is converted into heat energy which is called as the heating effect of electric current
