It is defined as the series of similarly constituted compounds in which the members possess same functional group and has similar chemical characteristics and the two consecutive members differ in their molecular formula by -CH2 group.

a group of carbon compounds with same method of preparation, similar chemical properties, which differ from each other by one CH3 group is called as homologous series

harmanpreetkaur: pls check is this CH3 or CH2
keerthi23: its CH2
keerthi23: by mistake
harmanpreetkaur: kk
harmanpreetkaur: no problem and thnx for the answer
keerthi23: and they have same functional groups
harmanpreetkaur: kk
