In hydrated salts, the water molecule are adsorbed on the surface of the compound but in anhydrous molecules there is no water molecule adsorbed on the surface of the compound.
e. g., CuSO4. 5H2O is hydrous copper sulphate which is blue in colour but CuSO4 is anhydrous copper sulphate which is white in colour.
e. g., CuSO4. 5H2O is hydrous copper sulphate which is blue in colour but CuSO4 is anhydrous copper sulphate which is white in colour.

Hydrated salt:
A compound with one or more chemically combined water molecule
Example: Copper sulphate pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O)
Anhydrous salt:
A compound in which all water molecules are removed is called Anhydrous salt.
Example: Heating of Copper sulphate pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) produce anhydrous copper sulphate(CuSO4)
