Hydration of ethene is the process to make ethanol using phosphoric(V) acid as the catalyst.

Here sulphuric acid acts a dehydrating agent as well as a catalyst.

Hi,

Ethanol can be dehydrated in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid or phosphoric acid to give ethene. The reaction can be represented as follows:

CH3CH2OH CH2=CH2
