Our constitution has various provision which make our judiciary independent and keeps it free from the influence of the legislature and the executive.

[Two examples are ÷]

(1) The judges are appointed on the basis of their qualification.

(2) The judges cannot be removed easily.

Answer:

Judicial independence can be defined as the ability of individual judges and the judiciary as a whole to perform their duties free of influence or control by other actors.

Indian judiciary is considered an independent institution because:

- It does not fall under the control of the legislative or the executive.

- The judges do not act on the government’s direction or in the favor of the ruling party.
