What is meant by inorganic benzene ? How it is prepared?
Answers
Borazine is called inorganic benzene because size of boron and nitrogen atoms resembles with that of carbon atoms . Also both rings have aromaticity i.e. have paramagnetic ring current. But the difference arises in polarity. Benzene is non-polar while borazine is polar.Inorganic benzene is B3N3H6. It is also known by the name borazole or borazine. You are already aware with its structure…haven’t u seen the structure of benzene ??..its structure is also like that 3 nitrogen and 3 boron forms a ring in which double bond is conjugated (3 double bonds are present) and all six H are attached with every nitrogen and boron.By heating a mixture of LiBH4 and NH4Cl B3N3H6 can be prepared in the laboratory by heating a mixture of LiBH4 and NH4Cl in vaccum at 230 degree celsius. 3NH4Cl + 3LiBH4 B3N3H6 + 3LiCl + 9H2 This method gives 30% Borazine. 230 °C
Answer:
Borazine is calle inorganic benzene. It is prepared by heating the addition compounds of diborane with ammonia to 473K . 3B2H6+6NH3 Low comp. →3[BH2(NH3)2]+[BH4]-Addition compound 473K→2B3N3H6Borazine+12H2.
