The amount of heat energy exchanged per unit mass of a substance is called Latent Heat. Latent heat of fission is analogous to latent heat of fusion.If latent heat is given off, then the body in liquid state will transform to solid stateand the body in vapour state will transformto liquid state. This means the internal energy of the matter decreases whenlatent heat is given off.
