Mahalwari system is a type of land revenue introduced in India during British rule.

It was introduced by "Lord William Bentinck" in 1833.

The states in which this system was implemented include Agra, Punjab, Central province, Gangetic valley, North-west Frontier, etc.

According to this system, the "land" was divided into "different Mahals" which comprises "one or more villages".

The head of the village is appointed as tax collector and the peasants as the owner of the Mahals and the tax was collected from each and every Mahals.
