1) If we tell our friend to throw a plastic ball and also a leather ball. You will notice that the plastic ball is easier to catch than the leather ball, this explains that mass is be responsible when two object strike.

the same ball with slow speed. You will notice that the ball with slow speed can be catch more easily, this explains that velocity is related when two object strike.

The above example explain us that mass and velocity both the terms are responsible when two object strike each other.

A term must be used for the product of them. So, Momentum (P) is nothing but the product of mass and velocity.

So, Momentum (P) = m × v

P = m v

As we seen, Momentum = product of mass (whose SI unit is kg) and velocity (whose SI unit

is m/s).

Therefore, the SI unit of Momentum is kg m/s
