Musical sound or Music :
Sound produced by musical instruments like sitar, piano and guitar are known as musical sound or music. These types of instrument produce pleasing affect to our ears as well as mind. Pleasant and soft sounds are called music. It does not cause any health hazards. The musical sound is totally different from noise. The main difference between the musical sound and noise is that the the musical sound is preduced by the regular and periodic vibration and noise is preduced by irregular and non-perodic vibration.
Musical instruments :
Musical instrument are used to produce pleasing sounds. In different types of instruments, different parts vibrates to produce sound. There are five main type of musical instruments depending upon the way the air vibrates in them.
(1) Stringed instruments: In these types of instruments the music is preduced by a string (usually metal wires). Examples of Stringed instruments are Guitar, veena, sitar and violin etc.
(2). Wind instruments: Wind instruments are generally made in the form of pipes. When we blow air into them, the column of air inside vibrates, preducing a note (a sound of particular frequency). Examples of Wind instruments are flute, shehnai and trumpet etc.
(3). Percussion instruments: In these types of instruments, a vibrating skin or membrane preduces a musical sound. Examples of Percussion instruments are drum, dholak etc.
(5). Reed instruments : These types of instruments contain metal reeds which preduce sound when air is blown through them. Examples of Reed instruments are harmonium and mouth organ etc.
(6). Ghana vadha : These are the types of instruments which are simply beaten to preduce musical sound. Examples are manjira and ghatam etc.
