Kidneys produce urine by its microscopic functional units called nephron.
A nephron is essentially long coiled duct in which the coiling takes a definite course.
A nephron along with the collecting tubules is also called as a uroniferous tubules. Their are about 1 to 1.2 million nephron in each kidney.
