The reaction between an acid and a base to produce water and salt is called neutralization.

E.g.. 1) Using toothpaste to neutralize the excess acid in the mouth.

2) Use of an antacid to neutralize the excess acid in the stomach.

Example of Neutralization Reaction:-

(1) NaOH (base)+ HCl (acid)--> NaCl (salt)+ H2O (water)

(2) During indigestion:-

Mg(OH)2 + 2HCl --> MgCl2 + 2H2O
