Luminous flame is the original part of a fire and non-luminous is the artificial one. If u keep ur finger in the middle part of the fire lit by a candle u will feel the pain but where in the top part u do the same experiment it might not burn ur finger[dont even think about doing this experiment ]so the top part if u observe closely it will be a bit different in colour than the middle part. Best example if u ever burnt crackers during Diwali u can see than when u try to burn a pencil stick,if u try by putting it up it takes a lot of time compared when u keep it in the middle of the flame by candle.
