Non-volatile memory (NVM) or non-volatile storage is a type of computer memory that can retain stored information even after power is removed. In contrast, volatile memory needs constant power in order to retain data.

There are different meaning of non volatile-
In computer science it is (of a computer's memory) retaining data even if there is a break in the power supply.

In chemistry the meaning is not turning readily into gaseous form.
