In chemistry, occlusion is the inclusion of one substance within another. Occlusion can occur if precipitation or crystallization occurs rapidly. If a crystal forms too rapidly, it may grow around the solvent, so that a "bubble" of solvent forms inside, even though it is not part of the crystal lattice..
