Multi Party System :

A multi - party system is a political system in which multiple political parties across the political spectrum run for national election , and all have the capacity to gain control of government offices , separately or in coalition .

two party system

when powers are usually exchanged between two main parties it is known as two party system. in this system other parties may be there , contest elections or may win few seats but the only two main parties have serious chance of winning majority seats from govt.

multi party system

when several parties compete for power and more than two parties have a reasonable chance of winning at their own power either or in alliance it is known as multi party system.
