WHAT IS MEANT BY OROGRAPHIC RAINFALL???

orographic rainfall is the rainfall that occurs when an air is forced to rise over a mountain range.as the air rise it cools.the amount of moisture that air can hold decrease with decreasing temperature.so the water vapours in rising air streams condenses,and rain falls on the windward side of the mountain.

orographic rainfall is otherwise known as topographic rainfall
it occurs when rain bearing winds are obstructed by a physical barrier which Then shed their moisture on the windward side of the mountains (eg of physical barrier)
and the dry wind blows and picks up moisture from the leeward side and make the land dry
