Osmoregulation is defined as a process of maintaining an optimal, and constant osmotic pressure in the body of a living organism.

I am providing you two examples of how osmoregulation takes place in animals.

Contractile vacuole helps in the process of osmoregulation in Amoeba. The contractile vacuole absorbs excess of water in the body and then it reaches to the surface and followed by its rupture. This expels out the excess water.

In human, kidneys play an important role in osmoregulation. It helps to regulate the acid-base balance, electrolyte concentration and regulates the blood pressure. It helps in the formation of urine and excretes wastes products that are produced by metabolism. The waste may include nitrogenous wastes like urea, uric acid etc
