it is a wave like contraction and relaxation of a tubular muscular system, i.e. oesophagus, by which the contents are forced through the system.

the movement by which food travels from our mouth to the stomach through oesophagus.
when the food is in oesophagus... it becomes bolus and then reaches to stomach through peristalsis movement only.
