Pneumatophores are the specialized roots found in halophytes [ grows in the area where the concentration of salt is high ]

Due to high concentration of salt,roots are unable to breathe.. So some of the roots come out of the soil to get sufficient oxygen for the plant. These roots posses several tiny pores( lenticel ) on their surface, by which they can intake oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
