An increase in the magnitude of the velocity of a moving body (an increase in speed) is called apositive acceleration; a decrease in speed is called a negativeacceleration. Acceleration, like velocity, is a vector quantity, so any change in the direction of a moving body is also anacceleration.

When the velocity of a body increases with time in acceleration is positive. in common practice positive acceleration is simply called acceleration. in this case the final velocity of a moving body is greater than the initial velocity i. e. v>u. a body dropped from certain height games velocity as it falls down towards the earth so a body falling towards the earth is positive acceleration.
