Racemisation is a conversion, by heat or by chemical reaction, of an optically active compound into an optically inactive form which half of the optically active substance becomes its miror image (enantiomer). A racemic mixture is a 50:50 mix of two enantiomers. ... Because two enantiomers have equal and opposite specific rotations, a racemic mixturehas a specific rotation of zero. A compound or a mixture whose specific rotation is zero is optically inactive.

HEYAAA,,,,,,

It is one that has equal amounts of left- and right-handed enantiomers of a chiral molecule. The first known racemic mixture was racemic acid, which Louis Pasteur found to be a mixture of the two enantiomeric isomers of tartaric acid.

Examples:

Some drug molecules are chiral, and the enantiomers have different effects on biological entities. They can be sold as one enantiomer or as a racemic mixture. Examples include thalidomide, ibuprofen, and salbutamol.
