rain shadow is like leeward side and the windward side of a place. when a mountain blocks the path of a cloud and the cloud pours its water only on one side and the side is then called the windwad side and the opp. to it is known as the leeward side. therefore we can say that there is a rain shadow casted on the other side(leeward side). in other words the leeward side is the rain shadow side or where rain shadow is casted
