Hello ❤️

Hello ❤️The process of purifying impure metals is called refining of metals...

The most important and most widely used methods for refining impure metals is electrolytic refining..

Electrolytic refining of copper:The apparatus used for the electrolytic refining of copper has been shown in diagram. The apparatus copper sulphate solution as electrolyte.Thick block of impure copper metal is made and( it is connected to the positive terminal of the battery),and a thin strip of pure copper metal is made up of third (it is connected to the negative terminal of the battery).

On the passing electric current impure copper from the anode dissolves and goes into copper sulphate solution and pure copper from the copper sulphate solution deposits on cathode .Thus pure copper metal is produced on the cathode the soluble impurities go into the solution where as insoluble impurities collect below the anode as anode mud.

The mostly used method for refining of impure metals is electrolyte refining.

During the electrolyte refining process the pure metals deposited on the cathot and impurities settledown at the bottom of the anode this is called anode mud.
