Answer:
WHEN A RAY OF LIGHT STRIKES TO SMOOTH SURFACE SUCH AS A PLANE MIRROR IT BOUNCES OFF WITH THE SAME ANGLE WITH WHICH IT STRIKES THE SURFACE. THIS PHENOMENON IS CALLED REFLECTION OF LIGHT
TYPES OF REFLECTION OF LIGHT:-
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF REFLECTION OF LIGHT
- REGULAR REFLECTION:- WHEN PARALLEL BEAM OF LIGHT STRIKES A SMOOTH SURFACE SUCH AS A PLANE MIRROR, IT IS REFLECTED AS A PARALLEL BEAM AND A VERY CLEAR IMAGE IS FORMED.
- DIFFUSE REFLECTION:- VENPALA BEAM OF LIGHT STRIKES A ROUGH SURFACE SUCH AS A CLOTH, WOOD AUR FROSTED GLASS, IT IS REFLECTED BACK IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THIS IS BECAUSE A ROUGH SURFACE HAS A MANY DIFFERENT ANGLES OF INCIDENCE. HANS LIGHT RAYS BOUNDS OF THE SURFACE AT DIFFERENT ANGLES AND HENCE NO CLEAR IMAGES FORMED. THIS IS CALLED DIFFUSE REFRACTION.
