What is meant by ‘Reign of Terror.’ Why was it established in France between 1793-94?

Reign Of Terror was the period between 1793-1794.
This was the period when Maximillian Robespierre ruled France.
Robespierre followed a rule of strict punishment and policy.
He guillotined anyone whom he thought were a threat to him and his party.
At last, he was guillotined in 28 July 1794, at Place de la Concorde.

The period from 1793 to 1794 is refered as reign of terror.
Robespierre followed a policy of severe control and punishment. All those whom he saw as being 'enimes' of the republic - ex-nobles and clergy,members of his own party who didn't agreed with his methods were arrested, imprisoned andwere guillotined.
