What is meant by resistance of a conductor? Name and define its SI unit. List the factors on which the resistance of a conductor depends. How is the resistance of a wire affected if:
(i) its length is doubled.
(ii) its radius is doubled.

Explanation:

Resistance of a conductor means the obstacles created by the conductor to the flow of current it's SI unit is ohm. The factors on which the resistance of conductor depends are as follows --->(1) length of the conductor.

(2) area of cross section.

(3) temperature and material.

The resistance is affected by the following ---->

(1) If it's length is doubled then resistance will also get doubled.

(2) If it's radius is doubled then current gets halved.

Explanation:

Resistance is the property of the conductor to resist the flow of current. SI unit of Resistance is Ohm. The resistance of current depends on Material of the wire, length and cross-section area of the wire and temperature.

As a wire gets longer its resistance increases, and as it gets thinner its resistance also increases because its cross sectional area decreases. Doubling the length will double the resistance, but the wire also must get thinner as it is stretched, because it will contain the same amount of metal in twice the length.

1) . length :- resistance of a conductor is directly proportional to its length.

(2). area :-resistance of a conductor is inversely proportional to its cross sectional area.

mainly these are the two factors on which resistance depends

if length is doubled and its radius is also doubled then resistance will be 1/2 of normal resistance....

hope this will help you...
