A satellite launch vehicle is a rocket that places an artificial satellite into space. It consists of fuel, oxidizer, machinery and payload.
One of the most sucessful Satellite Launch Vehicle of ISRO is the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. It has 4 stages: PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4. It features 6 solid rocket boosters to give it extra thrust and a Fairing to protect the payload. All stages except the boosters are liquid rocket engines.
