energy flow in ecosystem is always unidirectional that is solar radiation - producers - herbivore - carnivore .
it cannot pass innl the reverse direction . as the energy flow forward through various trophic levels., it is no longer available to the previous trophic level.
as the energy transfer from one to the next trophic level , it goes on deceasing due to the energy dissipated as heat during various activities and is measured as respiration couple with unutilized energy. hence energy flow is unidirectional......
