The potential difference between two points is said to be 1 volt , if 1 Joule of work is done in bringing a positive test charge from one point to the another......

Potential difference between two points is said to be one volt if one joule of work is done to move one coulomb of charge from one point to other point, i.e.,

1volt(V)=1joule(J)/1coulomb(C)
or
1V=1JC^-1
