What is meant by seats in elections . Give examples

Like if your class is have 30 student    ...and another class have same student than  and there is a debade on school and only 30 student can take part on it  than both class will do compitation and class whic won it wil get more student on debate so we can compare class as party and debate as seats  Hope you like it and please mark as brainlist
