What is meant by skeletal type chemical equations.? What does it represent? Using the equation for electrolyte decomposition of water, differentiate bt a skeletal chemical equation and a Balanced chemical equation.

Skeletal chemical equation is a representation of a chemical reaction using chemical formulae of reactants. and products and it is unbalanced. eg. Mg + HCl ---> MgCl2 + H2.

The chemical equation in which number of atoms are not equal on both sides is called a skeletal chemical equation. A balanced chemical equation is that in which the total number of atoms of each element are equal on both sides of the equation is called balanced chemical equation..
