Social exclusion, or social marginalization, is the social
disadvantage and relegation to the fringe of society. It is a term used
widely in Europe and was first used in France. It is used across
disciplines including education, sociology, psychology, politics and
economics.

Marginalisation is the process in which certain groups of people are pushed to the margins of the society.
Four main categories of marginalized groups are :-
- Scheduled Castes (SCS)
- Scheduled Tribes (STS)
- Other Backward Classes ( OBCs)
- Minorities
