Soil pollution is meant by taking out fertility of soil and making the soil for no use anymore I.e it is stage of soil when we can't use it for any purpose of planting trees.

e.g When the toxic chemicals of factory falls on soil, soil becomes toxic and no plants can be planted on that land anymore.

Soil pollution is defined as the presence of toxic chemicals (pollutants or contaminants) in soil, in high enough concentrations to pose a risk to human health and/or the ecosystem.

Cause of soil pollution :

1. Industrial wastes such as harmful gases and chemicals, agricultural pesticides, fertilizers and insecticides are the most common causes of soil pollution.

2. Improper septic system and management and maintenance of the same.

3. Fuel leakage from automobiles that get washed away due to rain and seep into nearby soil.

Effect of soil pollution :

1. The contamination or degradation of soils impacts heavily on the health of plants.

2. Humans are also affected in numerous ways either directly or indirectly. 

3. Polluted soil can harm humans by making contact with the soil or consuming vegetation produce from contaminated soils.
