What is meant by the chelate effect? Give an example.

when a didentate or a polydantate ligand contain donor atoms positioned in such way that when they cordinate with the central and mental ion, 5 or 6 membered ringed is formed, the effect is known as chelate effect.and the example of chelate effect is ethylenediamine.
