Power factor is defined as the ratio of the average power in an ac circuit to the apparent power, which is the product of the voltage and current magnitudes.
Wattless Current in an AC circuit is when the average power consumed in such circuit corresponds to Zero. Such current is also called as Idle Current. The current in a.c. circuit is said to be wattles if the average power consumed in the circuit is zero.
