Standard meridian is an imaginary line which passes through Mirzapur ,Uttar Pradesh . It lies almost at 82.30'E. It determines the time over the India. As there is a time lag of 2 hours between estern and western point of India. So for convenience along time standard meridian is chosen for the standard time.
