What is meant by the unilinear division of time?

There are different methods to calculate time. Time is continuous but can be divided into periods for our comfort.

Earth rotates around its axis. The part of earth facing Sun is bright and the that is not facing the sun is dark.

Earth takes 24 hrs to complete one rotation around its axis. One day is divided into 12 hrs of day time and following 12 hrs of night.

Century is completion of 100 yrs.  Similarly, Completion of 1000 yrs is millennium. This is called unilinear division of time.

In this method, years are arranged in serial order. It is used in history books.
