what is meant by the word "mio-pliocene"?

I guess it's the Miocene and Pliocene epoch

Miocene epoch is the period when the global climate turned warmer

Pliocene epoch is the period when climate started cooling down

so I guess, mio-pliocene must mean the period from when global rose to the time it cooled.
