Answer:

Transport of food from leaves to different parts of plant is termed as translocation.

*Mechanism of translocation

Translocation takes place with energy consumption in the form of ATP. Sugar(sucrose) made in leaves are loaded into sieve tubes of phloem by using energy.

It increases the Osmotic pressure of sieve tubes.

Water now enters into Sieve tubes containing sugar by the process of Osmosis.

Soluble material is then transferred from phloem tissue to other tissues which have less pressure than in phloem.

Thus, according to plants requirement, the material is translocated from higher pressure to lower pressure areas.

Plants use this process!!.

Transport of food from leaves to other parts of the plants is called Translocation. Food molecules enter the phloem cells from mesophyll cells of leaf. Once within the phloem , they can be transported upwards or downwards to all parts of the plants including roots. Food is transported in a dilute aqueous solution.
