The colloidal particle absorbs the energy of incident light and then a scatter a part of this energy from there surfaces Thus tyndall effect is due to scattering of light by the colloidal particles.

When a beam of light strikes fine particles of smoke, dust, water droplets etc., the beam of light becomes visible. This phenomenon of the scattering of light by colloidal particles is known as the Tyndall effect. The same phenomenon is observed when sunlight passes through a canopy of dense forest.
