Water of crystallization is the fixed number of water molecules present in one formula unit of a salt.

When copper sulphate are heated, blue coloured crystals changes into a white powder due to the removal of 5 molecules of water of crystallization.

CuSO4.5 H2O = CuSO4

Hope it helps u!!!.....

Water of crystallisation are the water molecules which form an essential part of some inorganic compounds...

Eg:

CuSO4(anhydrous.)(white) + 5H2O → CuSO4.5H2O(blue)

MgSO4(anhydrous)(white) + 2H2O→ MgSO4.2H2O(clear)
