Significant figures are the actual values that we use to answer. ... Also, we count the digits of the number starting from first non-zero digit , in the case of significant figures. Order of magnitude, on the other hand, is an exponential change in the power of 10 in the value of a quantity.

Explanation:

significant figure are the numbers will carry meaningful contribution to a measurement we are measuring for eg

0.0001 has 1 significant figure

1.001 has 4 significant figure

1.100 has 4 significant figure

3.000 has 4 significant figure Because by stating 0s in the decimal we are sure that it's zero

while

8300 has 2 significant figure because the zeroes before the decimal places are not significant and hence can differ from what we measure so we are not sure with the measurements as so these numbers are not significant.

order of magnitude is the approx value of some number u can write to the power of 10

for eg I can write

789 approximately 0.789* 10^3

since we can approx 0.789 as 1

it's order of magnitude is 3
