The French Revolution began because King Louis XVI of France did nothing about the French poor people's condition and they became angry about this.
It lasted for more than 10 years, from 5 May 1789 to 9 November 1799. With the country in deep debt, the French poor were angered by the fact that while they were suffering, King Louis and his nobles were enjoying life in their enormous mansions.
Moreover, the implementation of high taxes did nothing to improve the poverty of the French citizens. Crop failure also contributed to the worsening of the country's condition.
